Student Coordinator: Sultan Sharrief

Sultan Sharrief is a graduate of the University of Michigan, with a Bachelors of Arts in Film and Video Studies. In addition to cofounding the EFEX project, he wrote and directed the feature film, Bilal’s Stand. He was Executive Producer of the second EFEX film Taffy, Cigarettes, and he produced the feature film The Spiral Project (nominated for a 2006 MTV Movie Award). Sultan was also the Filmmaker of Mural (a feature documentary) and Producer of Fulfill a Hankering (a 25-minute, 16mm film). He also gained knowledge of the film industry as an intern for the Ann Arbor Film Festival (2yrs) and as an intern for EXTRA and CELEBRITY JUSTICE (1yr). Sharrief has been active in the Arts Programming community as the Assistant Director for Arts on the Hill (3yrs), as a student representative at the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (2 yrs), as a student representative at the Cool Cities Conference (2 yrs), and as the founder and Captain of the Michigan Ice Carving Team.

Course Professor/Project Advisor: Terri Sarris

Terri Sarris teaches multi-camera studio, single camera digital video, and film production at the University of Michigan in the Screen Arts and Culture Department. With Film Video Professor Bambi Haggins, she developed and teaches an integrated studies/production course entitled, "The History, Theory and Production of the Television Situation Comedy". Along with Department of Dance Professor Peter Sparling, Terri was chosen for the U-M Faculty Interdisciplinary Associates Program in winter of 2002 to develop and teach a collaborative course in "Videodance." Sarris is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including grants from the Michigan Council for the Arts, the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, and an "Annie" Award from the Washtenaw Arts Council. She was also one of the producers of Bilal's Stand.
